Del Valle auto-ped crash: Texas DPS trying to identify woman killed

Texas DPS is trying to identify a woman killed in an auto-pedestrian crash on New Year's Day in Del Valle.

At around 8:20 p.m., a 2005 Honda Pilot was traveling eastbound in the 10800 block of McAngus Road, just south of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, between SH 130 and FM 973.

DPS says that after cresting a small hill, the vehicle hit a woman who was in the roadway and the driver was unable to take evasive action. 

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The woman was airlifted to Dell Seton Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

DPS says that despite extensive efforts, they have been unable to identify the woman and she did not have any form of ID with her.

She is described as around 20 years old, Hispanic, 5'3" and approximately 108 pounds, with long straight black hair. She was wearing a gray sweatshirt, burnt orange shirt, blue jeans and gold-colored sandals. DPS says she is likely homeless.

In the hours before the crash, she was seen at a gas station on Pearce Lane just about four miles away, asking for a ride to Stassney Lane in South Austin. DPS says the woman had been frequenting the gas station for five nights before the crash.
