DEL VALLE, Texas - Del Valle ISD will provide meals free to all students during school closures.
The district will provide a sack breakfast and lunch beginning on Monday, March 23. Meals will be delivered at designated bus stops or for pickup at school sites between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. on weekdays while the district is closed.
Students and parents can find delivery stops near their address through the online DVISD Meal Finder. Parents can enter their address and zip code and search through the STOPS tab to find the closest Del Valle Food Bus stop along with the estimated delivery time.

The district recommends those getting meals to be at the stop 10-15 minutes early, to be flexible as route times could vary each day and to check the finder each day as route times may be updated based upon the district's needs. A list of routes can be found here.

Families can pick up meals from 7:30 to 10 a.m. every weekday from the following campuses:
- Creedmoor Elementary School
- Collins Elementary School
- Hillcrest Elementary School
- Smith Elementary School
- Baty Elementary School
- Popham Elementary School
- Gilbert Elementary School
- Hornsby Elementary School
- Del Valle Elementary School/Del Valle Middle School (Meal pick-up will be at the driveway between the campuses)
- Ojeda Middle School/DAEP (Meal pick-up will be at the Ojeda MS front driveway)
- Dailey Middle School
- Del Valle High School/Del Valle Opportunity Center (Meal pick-up will be at the high school's side parking lot near the 9th-grade center)
Parents and guardians who are unable to get their children to a delivery stop can submit a meal delivery request through a form or by calling the DVISD Transportation office at 512-386-3150 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. The district says they recommend this service only be used by families with a circumstance that prevents them from visiting a bus stop or pick-up location.

The orders take effect at midnight and will go through midnight on April 3.
On Thursday, Gov. Greg Abbott issued a public health disaster, the first in Texas since 1901. The executive orders, which take effect at midnight Friday, March 20 and go through midnight on Friday, April 3, will bring the state in line with CDC guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The public health disaster orders schools to be closed statewide until at least April 3. The disaster also orders a ban on dine-in eating and gathering in groups of more than 10 as the state ramps up efforts to battle the coronavirus. Abbott's order also will shut down gyms and bars. It also bans visits to nursing and retirement homes unless there is a critical need.
