Driver killed after his truck was struck by train in San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, Texas - A driver was killed after his truck was struck by a train at the McCarty Lane railroad track intersection in San Marcos.

The San Marcos Police Department, San Marcos Fire Department, and Hays Count EMS responded at around 9:05 a.m. on Sunday, June 14 to the major traffic collision at the railroad tracks on East McCarty Lane.

Officials say 80-year-old Joe Antonio Quintero Sr. was driving the red 2006 Toyota Tundra pickup truck that was hit.

Witnesses report that that train crossing arms were down when the truck went to through the railroad crossing.

Officials say the initial investigation showed that all components of the crossing arms were working properly.

No charges are expected to be filed at this time.
