SAN MARCOS, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Two people were arrested on intoxication-related charges early Wednesday morning in downtown San Marcos after a routine traffic stop ended in an auto-pedestrian crash involving two members of the San Marcos Police Department.
According to police, police officers conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of East Hopkins around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6. The traffic stop led to the arrest of 24-year-old Breanna Kilgore for a charge of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).
Shortly after officers had seatbelted Kilgore in the back seat of a patrol car, a second vehicle crashed into the rear of the car while the officers were standing near the rear passenger side door. The impact knocked both officers to the ground.
Police officers arrested the driver of the vehicle that struck the patrol car, 21-year-old Zachary Adams, and charged him with Intoxication Assault on a Peace Officer. Both police officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and have been treated and released. Kilgore was uninjured, according to police.
