Events at Frank Erwin Center, Bass Concert Hall postponed due to coronavirus concerns
AUSTIN, Texas - The Frank Erwin Center announced that all events have been postponed in response to growing concerns over COVID-19 coronavirus.
On Thursday, in a press conference held by UT leaders, it was announced that all events at the Frank Erwin Center would be postponed immediately. According to a Facebook post by the Center, no immediate decision has been made on when events will resume.
“For the health, safety, and well-being of all of its patrons, performers and staff, we have decided to postpone upcoming events at the Erwin Center for the near future,” said UT Vice President and Athletics Director Chris Del Conte. “After discussion with University officials and leadership at the Erwin Center we believe it’s in the best interest of everyone involved to proceed with an abundance of caution with events at that facility.”
The Center has also said that Ticket holders will be contacted directly about any postponed event.
In the same press conference, UT Austin President Gregory L. Fenves announced that events at the Bass Concert Hall will also be postponed at this time.
The decision to postpone events comes a day after the University announced that they would extend their Spring Break for students and that classes will resume on campus on Monday, March 30, and students should plan on returning prior to that date.
