FAA announces nearly $1B in aid for airport renovations: See the list

The Federal Aviation Administration is providing nearly $1 billion to upgrade airports in 46 states.

Approximately $970 million in funding will go to 125 airport-related projects

FAA officials announced in a release Thursday that the money is included for new baggage systems, larger security checkpoints, increasing gate capacity, and modernizing aging infrastructure throughout terminals and ground transportation.

Money provided to the FAA is part of the Biden administration’s investment into improving airports nationwide. 

Here’s a list of the airports receiving money for upgrades.

What airports will be renovated?

  1. Tampa International Airport in Florida
  2. Denver International Airport in Colorado
  3. Des Moines International Airport in Iowa
  4. Purdue University Airport in Lafayette, Indiana,
  5. Sitka Rocky Gutierrez Airport in Alaska
  6. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas
  7. Salt Lake City International Airport in Utah
  8. Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport in Montana
  9. Nashville International Airport in Tennessee
  10. Buffalo Niagara International Airport in New York
  11. Mobile Airport Authority in Alabama
  12. Memphis International Airport in Tennessee
  13. Kelly Field Airport at Port San Antonio in Texas
  14. General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport in Illinois
  15. Tulsa International Airport in Oklahoma
  16. Shreveport Regional Airport in Louisiana
  17. Rome Griffiss International Airport in New York
  18. Martin State Airport in Middle River, Maryland
  19. Atlanta Regional Airport - Falcon Field in Georgia
  20. General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport in Boston
  21. Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport in Guam
  22. Columbia Metropolitan Airport in South Carolina
  23. Key West International Airport in Florida
  24. Thief River Falls Regional Airport in Minnesota
  25. Palau International Airport

  27. Addington Field Airport in Elizabethtown, Kentucky

Additionally, the FAA announced that over 100 projects from earlier Airport Terminal Program grant awards have been completed or are almost finished. Examples of completed airport projects include the following: 

  1. Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona in 2022
  2. Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport in Washington in 2022
  3. Key West International Airport in Florida in 2023
  4. Missoula Montana Airport in Montana in 2022
