null - The Federal Aviation Administration is providing nearly $1 billion to upgrade airports in 46 states.
Approximately $970 million in funding will go to 125 airport-related projects.
FAA officials announced in a release Thursday that the money is included for new baggage systems, larger security checkpoints, increasing gate capacity, and modernizing aging infrastructure throughout terminals and ground transportation.

Money provided to the FAA is part of the Biden administration’s investment into improving airports nationwide.
Here’s a list of the airports receiving money for upgrades.

- Tampa International Airport in Florida
- Denver International Airport in Colorado
- Des Moines International Airport in Iowa
- Purdue University Airport in Lafayette, Indiana,
- Sitka Rocky Gutierrez Airport in Alaska
- Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas
- Salt Lake City International Airport in Utah
- Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport in Montana
- Nashville International Airport in Tennessee
- Buffalo Niagara International Airport in New York
- Mobile Airport Authority in Alabama
- Memphis International Airport in Tennessee
- Kelly Field Airport at Port San Antonio in Texas
- General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport in Illinois
- Tulsa International Airport in Oklahoma
- Shreveport Regional Airport in Louisiana
- Rome Griffiss International Airport in New York
- Martin State Airport in Middle River, Maryland
- Atlanta Regional Airport - Falcon Field in Georgia
- General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport in Boston
- Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport in Guam
- Columbia Metropolitan Airport in South Carolina
- Key West International Airport in Florida
- Thief River Falls Regional Airport in Minnesota
- Palau International Airport
- Gallup Municipal Airport in New Mexico
- Addington Field Airport in Elizabethtown, Kentucky
Additionally, the FAA announced that over 100 projects from earlier Airport Terminal Program grant awards have been completed or are almost finished. Examples of completed airport projects include the following:
- Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona in 2022
- Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport in Washington in 2022
- Key West International Airport in Florida in 2023
- Missoula Montana Airport in Montana in 2022
