Flickr, the SmugMug-owned photo-sharing and distribution platform, appeared to be down for at least some users on Wednesday.

While the site's home page was loading, most individual accounts and their photos were inaccessible.

What we know:

Reports of problems with Flickr began to appear on DownDetector.com around 1:30 p.m. ET. Not long after, the platform's status page was updated with the heading, "Site-wide slowness identified."

"We are investigating issues causing members to experience slow loading times. We are working to resolve the issue and appreciate your patience," the note stated.

Attempts to load photo profiles like NASA and CalFire were still failing as of 3 p.m.

By 4 p.m., profiles were coming back online after the company instituted an unspecified "fix."

What we don't know:

The scale of the outage and the cause were not immediately clear.

SmugMug did not immediately reply to a FOX Television Stations request for comment.
