Former Killeen ISD aide arrested for alleged inappropriate relationship with student

The Killeen Police Department is investigating a former Killeen ISD aide who allegedly engaged in an improper relationship with a student.

Detectives say Louisa Theresa Hernandez, 37, a former teacher's aide from Gateway High School, had an improper relationship with a male student during the 2018-19 school year.

She was charged Monday with Improper Relationship between Educator and Student and was arrested and transported to the Killeen City Jail Tuesday.

Killeen ISD says that upon learning of the allegations, Hernandez was immediately suspended and the district began investigating. The district says Hernandez was first hired in 2017 as an aide but left briefly before returning in January.

"We are working closely with Killeen police in this matter, and if the allegations prove true, we will support the strongest possible legal action against this employee," KISD Superintendent John Craft said in a release from the district.

Killeen ISD says Hernandez has since been fired and that the district will assist in the police investigation.

This is the second former Killeen ISD employee to be arrested in a week. Killeen ISD says a former Harker Heights High School teacher had been arrested and was being investigated for indecency with a child that happened outside of the district and didn't involve any KISD student or campus.
