AUSTIN, Texas - New data shows the number of arrests made at the US-Mexico border has doubled in the past fiscal year.
Federal data released earlier this week shows the number of arrests the US Border Patrol made in fiscal year 2019. More than 850,000 were detained after crossing the border.
That's more than double fiscal year 2018, which saw fewer than 400,000 border crossing arrests.
Immigration attorney Thomas Esparza joins Marcel Clarke to talk about what could have caused the spike and how the legal system has been impacted.
