AUSTIN, Texas - A Texas law legalizing hemp last year has created a lot of issues for prosecutors and forced the Travis County District Attorney's office to dismiss felony and misdemeanor cases.
The problem is mainly the ability to test whether a substance is actually hemp or marijuana, but a new plan to distinguish the difference could be in place soon.

This comes as Austin City Council could decriminalize low-level marijuana cases. Next week, City Council is expected to vote on a proposal from Councilmember Greg Casar that would block the Austin Police Department from pursuing low-level marijuana cases.
