Funeral held for 9 family members killed in Sutherland Springs church massacre
An image no family should ever have to see: hearses carrying grandchildren, daughters, fathers...mothers — killed when Devin Patrick Kelley opened fire during a church service at First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs near San Antonio last week.
Kelley took 26 Lives...and later his own.
One of the few survivors from the massacre, John Holcombe is laying to rest nine members of his family. His pregnant wife Crystal and their unborn baby Carlin Brits “Billy Bob” Holcombe.
His parents, 60-year-old Bryan and 58-year-old Karla.
John’s brother Marc. And Marc’s 18-month-old daughter Noah. Also three of Crystal’s children, 13-year-old Greg Hill, 11-year-old Emily Hill and 9-year-old Megan Hill.
The Floresville Community Center holds 3,000 including standing room. We are told it was at capacity during Wednesday’s public funeral for the Holcombe and Hill families.
A line of mourners stretched out into the parking lot.
The building was so full many were turned away. News cameras were not allowed inside.
The funeral was open to the public but the burials will be private.
Kelley killed 26 and injured another 20. Eight are still in the hospital as of today.
Some are in critical condition.
