Gourdough's Donuts Airstream trailer found in Bastrop County

The Bastrop County Sheriff's Office said on Jan. 3, deputies raided a property near Elm Forest Loop in Cedar Creek. Following the raid, the owner of the truck, Ryan Palmer, was able to get his trailer back.

BASTROP COUNTY, Texas - The owner of Gourdough's Donuts has his Airstream trailer back after Bastrop County deputies tracked it down.

He said the trailer was not seriously damaged.

The Gourdough's truck was stolen over Christmas from outside a storage barn off Highway 21 in Cedar Creek, along with a Kubota tractor and some other items.

Gourdough's was planning to use the trailer to open a new location in Austin, but the theft put those plans on hold.

Thanks to information from the owners and residents, investigators were able to track down the stolen items.

No arrests have been made. The sheriff's office said the suspects left the area when deputies raided the property. However, the suspects have been identified and arrest warrants are pending.

Thieves stealing food trucks in Central Texas on the rise

Thieves in Central Texas are making off with food trucks, leaving local business owners in a tough spot.

This theft comes just weeks after the closure of the iconic Gourdough's Public House on South Lamar after 10 years.

"With an upcoming residential project being built on the location, two years of extreme labor shortages, inflation, increased food cost, and the desire to pursue other opportunities, business partners Paula and Ryan decided it felt like the right time to conclude business after 10 happy years of food service," the eatery said on Instagram on Nov. 4.

Gourdough's is still serving out of its original location on S. 1st Street, and said in the same post they were planning to open "multiple new food trailers strategically located in the outer edges of Austin to better serve the growing community!"
