HCSO warns of scam using "pending arrest warrants"
AUSTIN, Texas - The Hays County Sheriff's Office is warning the community about a recent scam.
According to police, people around the county are receiving calls from a scammer saying they must pay a fine or fee to clear a pending arrest warrant.
Police warn these calls are a scam and that neither the Hays County Sherriff's Office nor the Hays County Court will ever call and ask for money. If you receive a call resembling this situation, police advise that you hang up immediately.

Police also warn that the scammers are using the names of real Hays County and San Marcos police officers to sound more legitimate.
