Health Alliance for Austin Musicians cancels events following recommendation from Mayor, city officials
AUSTIN, Texas - The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians has decided to cancel all events hosted during the week of SXSW. The announcement was made on Twitter and the organization cited recommendations from Austin Mayor Steve Adler and other city officials in their statement.
"Following the recommendation of Mayor Steve Adler, city health officials and South by Southwest officials, we have decided to cancel all Health Alliance for Austin Musicians hosted events during the week of SXSW," one tweet read.
"The health and welfare of our community is of the utmost importance, and we acknowledge the concerns and efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. For more information, please contact rikki@myhaam.org," the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians said in a second tweet.

In a press conference on Friday, March 6, Austin Mayor Steve Adler announced the decision to cancel the annual event. SXSW issued a statement on the cancellation on Twitter, saying they will faithfully follow the City's directions.
