AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department (APD) is searching for the suspects involved in a robbery that escalated into a murder in Southeast Austin.
Police said on Monday, May 15, around 2:49 a.m., officers received a call regarding a shooting in the 7700 block of Springfield Drive. The caller reported a man was shot inside a car.
When officers arrived, they found the driver of the car, 19-year-old Brian Serrano, with gunshot wounds. He died at the scene, police said.
A woman who was a passenger in the car had minor injuries from debris during the shooting.

Investigators believe this started as a robbery committed by several suspects unknown to Serrano and the woman, which escalated into a murder. The suspects abandoned their stolen vehicle and left the area in another one.
Officers are asking people in the area to check their doorbell and home security cameras to see if they captured anything.
