Hutto grass fire prompts evacuations
HUTTO, Texas - A 66-acre grass fire in Hutto has been contained Sunday afternoon.
Hutto Fire and Rescue responded to the fire in the 300 block of Windmill Road around 4:30 p.m. The Williamson County Sheriff's Office responded shortly after.
The fire was contained two hours later. Five homes were evacuated, but according to WCSO, no structures were affected and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire, a BBQ pit, was found by the Williamson County Fire Marshal's Office.
In addition to Hutto Fire and Rescue, responding agencies included fire departments from Cedar Park, Coupland, Florence, Georgetown, Leander, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Taylor, Weir, and the Texas Forest Service, as well as Star Flight and resources from Williamson County Emergency Management, Fire Marshal's Office, Emergency Communications, and Sheriff's Office.
Williamson County is currently under a burn ban.
