The City of Round Rock is hosting its annual Independence Day celebrations today. The Sertoma July 4th Parade and Frontier Days is a day of free events for the entire family.

It all kicks off at 9 a.m. with the parade in downtown Round Rock starting on Mays Street between Mays Crossing and Highway 79. The parade is scheduled to go until 11 a.m. and officials recommend getting there early to set up a spot along the parade route.

The Frontier Days officially opens at noon in Old Settlers Park. The cast of the Sam Bass Shootout will have live stunt performances throughout the afternoon and evening.

There will be pig races, carnival rides, a pepper eating contest, free ice cream and more as well as a fireworks show.

The evening festivities close with a free showing of "Captain Marvel" in the park.
