CapMetro bus rollover in South Austin; 3 taken to hospital
AUSTIN - A CapMetro MetroAccess bus was involved in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in South Austin.
The crash happened near the intersection of S. 1st Street and W. William Cannon Drive.
When Austin fire crews arrived at the scene just after 10 a.m. Dec. 18, the bus was on its side, pinching a smaller four-door sedan. There was also a third vehicle involved with damage to it, says AFD.
According to AFD, three people were transported to the hospital: two from the bus and one from the sedan. Only two people were on the bus at the time of the crash, including the driver.
ATCEMS reported on social media that one person with serious injuries and two with minor injuries were taken to St. David's South Austin Medical Center.
EMS also stated there was a fourth person involved who was being evaluated for minor injuries, but whether they were also hospitalized is currently unknown.
The bus involved in the crash is one of CapMetro's MetroAccess paratransit vans, which are used for transporting disabled and elderly passengers.
