Police investigating officer-involved shooting in Pflugerville

FOX 7 Austin was told the suspect, 34-year-old Kelvin Scott, is expected to make a full recovery.

Following a family violence call, a suspect barricaded himself in his apartment for hours in Pflugerville and eventually was shot by police.

“I have reviewed the body-worn camera footage of this incident and can safely say that officer spoke to the suspect clearly and calmly asking him to leave his apartment. The over actions of the suspect led to the police response,” said Jessica Robledo the Pflugerville police chief.

Chief Robledo addressed the public following the confrontation at the sage at 1825 apartments. “The suspect was taken to the Round Rock medical center where he was treated and released back into police custody,” said Robledo.

According to Chief Robledo, on Thursday police responded to a family violence call. At the scene, officers discovered a man who had barricaded himself in his apartment. The incident lasted till the early hours on Friday. “A mental health officer tried to get the subject to turn himself over into police custody with negative results,” said Robledo.

The Pflugerville Police Department and Texas Rangers are actively investigating.

At around 5:30 Friday morning, the suspect called police and said he wanted to turn himself in. It’s at this point the shooting took place. The chief said she could not say what exactly led to the shooting as it still under investigation.

FOX 7 Austin was told the suspect, 34-year-old Kelvin Scott, is expected to make a full recovery. He is being charged with family violence strangulation and aggravated assault against a public servant.
