Austin mother arrested for capital murder for her baby's death

A woman was arrested for capital murder after her 6-week-old son was killed, police said.

Austin police said on Nov. 27, around 3:10 p.m., officers responded to Dell Children’s Medical Center for a dead person call. The parents of a 6-week-old took their baby to the hospital because he wasn't breathing.

Life-saving measures were given to the baby, but he died from his injuries.

An investigation showed the baby had several trauma injuries to his body. CPS was notified and the parents of the baby were investigated.

Jacqueline Mendoza-Ramirez, 21

On Dec. 18, an arrest warrant was issued for the baby's mother, 21-year-old Jacqueline Mendoza-Ramirez.

She was arrested later that day for capital murder.
