Man found in Lady Bird Lake dies from accidental drowning: autopsy report

On April 1, a man was found in Lady Bird Lake near Rainey Street, Austin police said. It was later determined he died from an accidental drowning.

The Austin Police Department has identified the body of a man found in Lady Bird Lake near Rainey Street Saturday. 

Austin police say they received a 911 call at around 12:45 p.m. April 1 that a body was seen in the lake near the Rainey Street Entertainment District.

Police recovered the body, later identified as 33-year-old Jonathan Honey, and cleared the scene by 5:30 p.m. APD says Honey had been reported missing just a day earlier.

On July 24, the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Honey's death as an accidental drowning.

Body found in Lady Bird Lake, second in two months

The body of 33-year-old Jonathan Honey was found in Lady Bird Lake near Rainey Street on Saturday. This is the latest of multiple bodies to have been found in the lake in recent years.

The investigation into Honey's death is currently ongoing, says APD.
