Killeen police asking public's help in solving 2017 murder of Subway security guard
KILLEEN, Texas - The Killeen Police Department and the Bell County Crime Stoppers are asking for the public's help in solving the murder of a Subway security guard in 2017.
Killeen police say a black male entered a Subway on Old FM 440 in Killeen in an attempt to rob the restaurant during the early morning hours of Feb. 26, 2017.

William Petty was on duty as a security guard and attempted to approach the suspect when he turned and fired at Petty, fatally wounding him. Petty was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in critical condition, where he died.

The suspect is described as a stocky black male, approximately 5'6", last seen wearing a dark gray sweatshirt, black shorts with red and white trim, and white tennis shoes.
There were a few citizens and employees in the restaurant at the time of the robbery. No one else was injured.
