Killeen Police investigating pedestrian vs. vehicle fatality
KILLEEN, Texas - According to police, a pedestrian crossing a street in Killeen has died after being struck by a vehicle.
Killen Police responded to the 1000 block of Jasper Road around 7:20 p.m. Saturday night.
When officers arrived on scene they located a 53-year-old Michael Dean Cook lying in the roadway. He was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 8 p.m.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Cook was crossing southbound on Jasper Road when an unknown SUV, traveling eastbound, struck the man and then fled the scene.
Investigators are now asking anyone with information on the case to call Crime Stoppers at 254-526-8477.
