Killeen police locate suspect vehicle in December hit-and-run
KILLEEN, Texas - The Killeen Police Department has located the suspect vehicle in a December hit-and-run in Killeen.
According to police, a pedestrian crossing a street in Killeen died Dec. 21 after being struck by a vehicle. Killen police responded to the 1000 block of Jasper Road around 7:20 p.m.
When officers arrived on scene, they located 53-year-old Michael Dean Cook lying in the roadway. He was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Medical Center with where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 8 p.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Cook was crossing southbound on Jasper Road when an unknown SUV, traveling eastbound, struck the man and then fled the scene.
Investigators with KPD's Traffic Unit followed leads from citizens and Crime Stopper tips to find the vehicle and driver at a home in Killeen. KPD says the case is being forwarded to the Bell County District Attorney's Office for review.
