LCRA lowers LBJ, Inks lakes to help with recovery from 2018 floods

The Lower Colorado River Authority has started lowering the levels of Lake LBJ and Inks Lake.

The eight-week drawdowns will end Friday, Feb. 28. Inks Lake will be lowered eight feet and Lake LBJ will lowered four feet.

The LCRA can't lower Lake LBJ anymore than four feet without risking interfering with operations at the Thomas C. Ferguson Power Plant.

They are lowering the lakes to help with the continued recovery from the October 2018 floods and provide property owners an opportunity to remove debris, dredge and maintain or repair docks, retaining walls and other infrastructure.

Those who want to perform dredging, remove debris or work on existing retaining walls during the drawdown must register their project with the LCRA.
