Lockout at several AISD schools in East Austin lifted following police activity in area
AUSTIN, Texas - The lockout at several AISD schools in East Austin has been lifted.
Austin ISD Police Chief Ashley A. Gonzalez sent a tweet out around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 6 saying, in part, that the lockout has been lifted and the area has been deemed safe.
The Travis County Sheriff's Office and the Austin Independent School District Police Department said that several schools were on lockout due to a home robbery in the 7000 block of Northview Lane.
The schools affected by the robbery were Jordan Elementary, Overton Elementary, and Garcia Middle School.
TCSO said a perimeter had been set up in the area while the search continued for suspects.
Motorists and pedestrians were also urged to avoid the area.
