Man deported 5 times accused of trying to kidnap teen at Alabama store

A man was arrested after he tried to kidnap a teenage girl at a store in Holtville, Alabama. 

The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve at Boy’s Store and Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin tells WSFA-TV in Alabama that Yordy Centeno-Melchor, who is in the U.S. illegally, has been deported five times.

Centeno-Melchor, 31, is charged with second-degree attempted kidnapping and had his initial court appearance on Jan. 6, where a judge gave him a cash bail of $100,000.

WAKA-TV in Alabama obtained court records that show that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed a hold on Centeno-Melchor because of his illegal immigration status.

Citing court records, WAKA-TV reported that prosecutors are worried that Centeno-Melchor could be deported and won’t face trial in Elmore County, Alabama.
