AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - A man has died and a woman is in the hospital after a shooting and standoff in northwest Austin.
Officers responded to the 4600 block of Seton Center Parkway after reports of a shooting at an apartment complex called the Estate on Quarry Lake Apartments.
Police say one woman was shot and was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. They say the person who shot her was her husband.
Shortly after the shooting, the SWAT was called in because the Austin Police Department didn't know if the man barricaded himself inside the apartment or ran away.
Police used a helicopter to look for the man and the bomb squad was also called in.
Several neighbors reported they heard gun shots and a woman screaming.
The SWAT call ended at around 3:45 a.m. after police found the suspect dead inside his apartment.
Officials did not confirm how the suspect died but did say he was armed.
