Man hospitalized after stabbing in South Austin

A man is hospitalized after being stabbed in South Austin. There were also traffic issues in the area along I-35 due to another incident that left a man dead.

The stabbing was first reported around 1 a.m. Medics responded to the 9600 block of the service road along I-35 South which is close to the Slaughter exit.

A man in his 30s was taken to the hospital. EMS says he has serious and potentially life threatening injuries after being stabbed.

No word on any suspect or what led to the stabbing.

Just one exit away on the other side of I-35, another man was hit and killed by a car. He was also in his 30s.

Officials say CPR was performed on the patient while he was being taken to the hospital where he later died.

Police say the driver who hit the man stayed on scene. They are not looking for any suspects in this case.

The auto pedestrian crash was reported a few minutes after the stabbing. 

FOX 7 asked police if the two incidents were related because they happened so close to one another but police couldn't confirm if that was the case at this time.

News
