Man in wheelchair struck, killed while crossing Ben White Boulevard

AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department has identified the man who was killed while crossing Ben White Boulevard on Valentine's Day as 57-year-old Theodore Tjomsland. 

The incident happened around 7 p.m. in the 200 block of East Ben White Boulevard, near South Congress Avenue, on Friday, February 14. According to police, a 1993 Honda Civic was traveling eastbound in the left lane of the service road when it struck Tjomsland.

Investigators believe Tjomsland was traveling north to south, across the road. 

The driver of the Honda remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

No charges are expected to be filed at this time.
