AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - A man killed in a crash on the I-35 service road Sunday night has been identified by police.
Patrick Leonard Ervin, 52, was driving his Hyundai Elantra northbound in the 12100 block of the I-35 North service road when the driver of a white Toyota Camry tried to take over the lane Ervin was in and lost control of the vehicle.
According to APD, both cars slid off the roadway and Ervin's car struck a tree. He died at the scene.
The driver of the Camry was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

This crash marks the 29th fatal traffic crash of the year, resulting in 30 fatalities. At this time last year, there were 22 fatal traffic crashes with 23 fatalities.
