Man shot, killed in crossfire of East Austin shooting; APD investigating

Austin police are investigating after a man was killed in the crossfire of a shooting in East Austin.

Police said on Dec. 13, around 3:53 a.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Thrasher Lane for reports of a shooting. 

When officers arrived, they found a man, later identified as 45-year-old Erik Tijerina, lying in the front yard with gunshot wounds.

Tijerina was taken to a local hospital for his injuries, but later died on Dec. 15.

According to police, the investigation showed that multiple people exchanged gunfire and struck Tijerina who was in the front yard of the home.

This is an ongoing investigation.
