Man sentenced to 40 years in prison for killing woman in road rage incident
AUSTIN, Texas - A Travis County jury sentenced a man to 40 years in prison for the murder of a 22-year-old woman.
According to the Travis County District Attorney's Office, 23-year-old Manolo Gonzalez was convicted for the murder of 22-year-old Elizabeth Lopez.

"Our office is grateful to our dedicated staff and law enforcement partners who worked tirelessly to hold the defendant accountable and seek justice for the victim’s family," said Travis County District Attorney José Garza. "We hope this verdict continues to help the victim’s family with their healing process."

Police said the incident happened on Jan. 6, 2023, shortly after 8:30 p.m. Officers were called to E Stassney Lane between South Congress and I-35.
22-year-old Elizabeth Lopez was fatally shot in the head while driving on East Stassney Lane. Police believe the shooter’s motive was road rage.
Gonzalez admitted to police the victim, 22-year-old Elizabeth Lopez, was a stranger to him, and this was a case of road rage.
