Manor ISD to begin distributing meals for children under 19

Manor ISD says it will begin distributing meals for children under the age of 19 next week.

Starting Monday, March 23, meals will be distributed at three schools in Manor ISD from 11 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until April 3.

Meals will be distributed at the following schools:

  • Manor New Tech High School: pickup in the parking lot in front of the MNTHS Cafe across from administration
  • Blake Manor Elementary: pickup in front of the school
  • Decker Elementary: pickup in front of the school

Curbside lunch meals will be provided for each child in the vehicle. Parents are advised to stay in their cars during meal pick up.

Children must be present to receive a meal package and meals are not available for adults. Signs will be posted at each location with directions to enter the parking lot and participants do not need a student ID.

Manor ISD also has canceled its regularly scheduled in-person board of trustees meeting and will be hosting a virtual one at 1 p.m. Friday, March 20.

On Thursday, Gov. Greg Abbott issued a public health disaster, the first in Texas since 1901. The executive orders, which take effect at midnight Friday, March 20 and go through midnight on Friday, April 3, will bring the state in line with CDC guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The public health disaster orders schools to be closed statewide until at least April 3. The disaster also orders a ban on dine-in eating and gathering in groups of more than 10 as the state ramps up efforts to battle the coronavirus. Abbott's order also will shut down gyms and bars.
