MANOR, Texas - The suspect in a deadly stabbing at Manor Senior High School in October has been deemed incompetent to stand trial, according to court records.
18-year-old Mac Brown Mbah Mbanwei has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of 18-year-old Darren Loving at the school on Oct. 29, 2024.

Court records say Mbanwei was found incompetent to stand trial on Dec. 31, 2024.
Under Texas law, a person is incompetent to stand trial if they do not have:
- sufficient present ability to consult with the person's lawyer with a reasonable degree of rational understanding, or
- a rational as well as factual understanding of the proceedings against the person

Teen charged with murder for stabbing at Manor school
An 18-year-old was charged with murder in the stabbing death of a student at Manor Senior High School, Manor police said.
Police said on Tuesday, Oct. 29, around 12:47 p.m., officers responded to an aggravated assault at Manor High School.
When officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Darrin Loving had been stabbed in the chest in the school bathroom. The fire department performed life-saving measures, but he later died from his injuries.
The school was placed on lockdown after the incident. Mbanwei was detained shortly after the stabbing.
Police said the two knew each other, and the stabbing was done with a kitchen knife, but it’s unclear what led up to the altercation.

New details in Manor HS deadly stabbing
Court documents revealed new information about the deadly stabbing at Manor Senior High School on Tuesday. Police said the 18-year-old facing a first-degree murder charge stabbed his classmate in the school bathroom.
Court documents later revealed that a school resource officer reported hearing students yelling "oooh" and "Mac Brown had a knife" at lunchtime. He glanced towards the bathroom and saw a student with his hands in his pockets.
The officer said he asked him to take his hands out. He didn’t, and there was a struggle. The officer eventually removed his hands from his pockets, one of which had a kitchen knife in it.
The officer said back at the lunch area, a student was found with multiple stab wounds. The blood splatter indicating a fight between two students started in the restroom and ended in the hallway near the lunchroom. Students captured the aftermath on video.
Mbanwei was arrested, charged with first-degree murder and was then held in the Travis County Jail on a $1 million bond.
