'Mass Farting' planned in response to Saturday's 'Mock Mass Shooting' at UT

When FOX 7 spoke with Murdoch Pizgatti, President of "Come And Take it Texas" earlier this week, the group's plan was to stage a mock mass shooting on the UT campus to prove a point about gun-free zones.  But asking UT if they could do it wasn't part of that plan.

UT caught wind of it and basically said  "not here, you're not."  So Come and Take It will take their cardboard guns and sound effects off campus using UT as a backdrop.

"It's going to be a non-realistic over-dramatization of that, it's not a realistic style event.  So I can't see anyone being startled by what it's actually going to look like," Pizgatti said.

Even local gun rights advocates like Michael Cargill are livid about this so-called "theatrical performance."

"We know what's going to happen if there's a mass shooting.  I don't need a bunch of idiots to get together and tell me what a mass shooting's gonna look like, we have criminals that show us that all the time," Cargill told us on Wednesday.

Also this week, UT's 19-member Campus Carry Policy Working Group announced 25 recommendations to President Fenves on how to implement the new law going into effect August 1st.

UT senior Jordan Pahl with Students Against Guns on Campus said they were mostly happy with the recommendations that detail where students can carry.

"Professors can opt out their offices, they are pretty broad about the spaces on campus that they can say 'no guns' in," she said.

But like the group "Gun Free UT," Pahl's group is disappointed classrooms won't be gun-free zones.

"We feel safe as students on this campus and we didn't think that guns are something that we needed to make us feel safer and they just totally alter the atmosphere of our campus and we like it the way it is," Pahl said.

Pahl says as for this weekend's mock shooting it will incite rather than educate.

"It's just not a productive thing for them to do at all, it's not a way to inspire dialogue, it's just to freak people out," she said.

In response to the mock shooting, one group is fighting guns with flatulence.

It may sound silly, but a "Mass Farting" will be taking place near UT as well -- not our words by the way.  Event organizers are encouraging participants to bring "farting devices" to make the sounds.

So if the guns and the farting is just too much to bear, the University United Methodist Church says they'll be holding an event of peace.

Rev. John Elford has heard "Come and Take It's" event will be near his church.

"Their view is that we need to arm everybody and everybody needs to carry a gun, and our view is that there's a different way of peace," Elford said.

Elford says "Sanctuary on the Sidewalk" will be a quiet place where students of any faith can go to pray and reflect.

No word on where the "Come and Take It Texas" event will be on Saturday.  Austin Police say they are aware of the event and they'll be monitoring it.
