MCDADE, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - McDade ISD has announced it is closing schools for the next two days (1/24 and 1/25) due to attendance issues because of flu and flu like viruses.
In a release on its website, McDade ISD Superintendent Barbara Marchbanks says that on 1/23 only 67% of PK students, 68% kinder and 78% of first graders were in attendance.
Officials say total attendance was 83% for the elementary school and 86.5% district wide. They say that enough minutes have been built into the calendar so students will not have to make up missed time.
All custodial and maintenance staff will report to work as usual to sanitize buildings and buses.
