AUSTIN, Texas - Meals on Wheels Central Texas volunteers will be delivering monthly supplies of shelf-sustainable groceries to homebound elderly Texans and their pets.
On Saturday, April 11, supplies will be delivered to Meals on Wheels clients who are part of the HOPE (Healthy Options Program for the Elderly) and PALS (Pets Assisting the Lives of Seniors) programs.

"While stay-at-home orders have temporarily shut down thousands of businesses in the Greater Austin area, Meals on Wheels Central Texas, designated as an essential provider under the orders, continues to deliver services to the homebound older adults it serves," Meals on Wheels said in a press release.

The HOPE program, a shelf-sustainable grocery delivery service, is a collaboration between Meals on Wheels and the Central Texas Food Bank.
The PALS program provides free pet food and basic veterinary care for the agency's clients who have a dog or cat.

Volunteers are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing while delivering meals. The company says they are not seeking new volunteers for this delivery.
