More than 20 displaced after North Austin apt complex fire
More than 20 people are displaced after a fire at the Polo Club Apartments located in the 8500 block of Cahill Drive.
It started at around 4 p.m .Fire crews responded to the fire within minutes and were able to get it under control after a couple of hours.
No one was hurt but officials say 21 people are displaced. The Central Texas Red Cross is assisting and FOX 7 Austin has been told that the apartment complex is offering empty units to those who need a place to stay.
The fire heavily damaged two apartments and heavy water and smoke damaged two others. Four apartments also suffered fire control and light smoke damage.
Officials say the fire has been ruled accidental due to improperly discarded smoking material on a balcony.
Damage is estimated at $300,000 to the structure and about $75,000 for contents.
