BARTLETT, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - A suspect was arrested and charged with a murder in Bartlett. The suspect was found with the WCSO Drone and surrendered to deputies with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office after 5 a.m. on Saturday.
Archie Samuel Rogers Jr. of Bartlett has been charged with first degree murder, bond has not been set at this time. Rogers is currently in custody at the Williamson County Jail.
The victim has not been identified pending notification of family.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, police officers with the Bartlett Police Department responded to a residence in the 620 block of West Jackson Street just after 4 p.m. on Friday, February 1. When officers arrived on scene, they found a deceased person with a gunshot wound.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office was called in to assist the Bartlett Police Department and during the course of their investigation, detectives identified a vehicle and the suspect as Archie Samuel Rogers Jr. The vehicle was located in the 7200 block of Burnet County Road 243 with the assistance of a Texas Department of Public Safety Air Unit.
However, due to weather, the air unit was returned to base before being able to locate the Rogers.
Around 5 a.m. on February 2, an infrared capably WCSO Drone was used to locate Rogers. Shortly after 5:20 a.m., Rogers surrendered to the Williamson County SWAT team.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office credits the Bartlett Police Department, the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Wardens for working together to not only identify the suspect, but to apprehend him within thirteen hours of the initial call.
