Suspect dead after officer-involved shooting in Southwest Austin
AUSTIN, Texas - A suspect is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Southwest Austin.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says US Marshals were attempting to serve a warrant to a male suspect at an apartment complex near W. William Cannon Drive.
The suspect fled the scene in a blue Honda Accord to the 6600 block of W. William Cannon Drive, near Vega Ave. DPS says that's where he got out of the vehicle and confronted officers with a weapon.
Law enforcement opened fire and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
There is currently no word on what the warrant was for.
The Texas Rangers will be the lead investigating agency in the case.
