Police searching for driver in deadly hit-and-run in East Austin
AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department (APD) is searching for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run in East Austin.
Police said on Saturday, Sept. 17, officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 1100 block of Airport Blvd.
A preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was crossing the roadway when he was hit by an unknown vehicle. After the crash, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to help him.
The pedestrian died on the scene, police said.
On Oct. 7, police released photos of the suspect vehicle. It is described as a red Ford F-150 pickup, with a single cab, two circular fog lights on the front bumper, a tool box on the back and may have a damaged or broken front-right headlight.

This crash is being investigated as Austin's 74th fatal crash of 2022, resulting in 76 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2021, there were 81 fatal crashes resulting in 87 deaths.
