As Pflugerville continues to grow, so does its need for police officers.
Nine cadets and one former APD detective, T.J.Vineyard, graduated Friday night. Vineyard will serve in a leadership role at Pflugerville Police Department. The new officers' families pinned their badges on and they shook hands with their chief, Jessica Robledo.
This is the largest graduating class for the police department, ever. Ten may be a small number, but in the past, Pflugerville was a small city, therefore did not have as big of a police department.
That is changing.
Robledo said she hopes these new officers can reflect integrity and ethics, while serving.
“One of the things I talk about all the time with my cadets is, lead with the heart of a servant., to be kind, to connect. Take that minute to connect with the community that you serve,” said Robledo, after the ceremony.
“Coming here to a place that has a good relationship with the community and good reputation in law enforcement is everything,” said Ofc. Ian Clark, Pflugerville Police Department.
Chief Robledo has been chief for a year and comes from the Austin police force. The Pflugerville Police Department has 85 officers, according to a department spokesperson.
