KYLE, Texas - Wednesday, Kyle police announced an arrest in a nearly six-year-old double-homicide. Police believe 47-year-old Larry Simon of Louisiana killed Jim Wright and Tina Combs in Wright’s South Sledge Street home on June 25, 2015.
"After a while you kind of just, I don’t want to say lose hope, but it’s like another year passes, another year passes, another year passes, and it’s kind of like is anything ever gonna come of this?" said Combs’ eldest son, Mitchall Hall.
Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett says Simon was living with and working for Wright at the time. He was identified as a suspect early in the investigation.
Barnett says Simon was in the Hays County Jail on "unrelated charges" when the department secured two arrest warrants for capital murder.
Court documents show Simon was charged with possessing a small amount of drugs on Monday. Tuesday, he was charged with murder. Documents show he has a troubled past. He spent time before and after the killings in and out of custody in Texas and Louisiana.
"To hear that [Larry Simon is] behind bars is bittersweet. Doesn’t bring her back, but it’s some kind of closure at least," said Mitchall Hall.

The Arlington woman was 44 when she was killed, leaving behind seven children. Their names all start with an "M" and ages span more than two decades. "There’s always a child in diapers it feels like," laughed Mitchall Hall.
Combs’ family says Wright was her cousin’s childhood neighbor. The two connected as adults. She was visiting him in Kyle when they were killed.
"Pure evil, there’s pure evil out there," said Randy Hall, Combs’ ex-husband. The two were married for 12 years, Hall says ten of them were great.
"I mean, it couldn’t have been any better. She was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen and we were happy, and you know things happen, but she was the best mother, the best wife I could have asked for," he said tearing up.
Mitchall Hall says his mother "could just do anything."
His sister, Maddison Hall explained, "she could do a man’s job, she could cook, oh yeah she could cook." The family remembers Combs for her smile and "infectious laugh." "I know, that sounds very cliche, but it was just one of those ‘I can hear it now’ kind of things," Mitchall Hall said.
Randy Hall says he tried to prepare the couple's four children that the case "could go cold" after years without answers. Hall and his children find comfort in the news of the arrest but still yearn for more information.
"Just trying to figure out why, that’s the biggest thing for me and why he would do something like that, that’s the crazy part," said Mason Hall.
Kyle Police shared a statement on behalf of Jim Wright's family, it reads: "
Today the Wright family wants to express gratitude to all of the many friends of our dear Jimmy that have been so supportive of us through these difficult years. News of this arrest does not bring our family any joy. We only hope that if the suspect is found guilty, justice will help keep him from hurting another family the way that he has hurt ours. We ask that the media respect our privacy during this time, and as we continue to work towards acceptance of losing our son.
