Police identify man killed in Hwy. 290 crash on Thursday

AUSTIN - Austin Police have identified a man who was killed in a crash the day after Christmas, around 3:30 a.m. on Hwy. 290 near the Giles Lane exit ramp.
Investigators say 27-year-old Abraham Cantu died at the scene of the crash.
Cantu's vehicle was the only vehicle involved in the crash. The cause of the crash has not been released.
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 93rd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 100 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 89 fatal crashes resulted in 92 fatalities.
