Georgetown police have identified the teen who was killed in a crash on SH 130. Another teen has undergone emergency surgery and is currently in intensive care.

18-year-old Jairo Garcia, from Garland, was the teen killed. A 16-year-old male also from Garland is the one intensive care but his name has not been released.

Police say the two were passengers in a Mazda being driven by 17-year-old Dezirae Fregoso from Kaufman. 17-year-old Dallas area resident Andrew Trevino and a 16-year-old female from Quinlan were also in the Mazda.

The crash happened at around 10:40 a.m. in the 3900 block of SH 130 southbound on June 12.

Police say witnesses reported seeing the Mazda going at a high rate of speed when Fregoso attempted to make a lane change to pass a slower moving vehicle. The driver of the slower moving vehicle saw the Mazda approaching and attempted to move out of the lane.

Officials say due to the high speed and a faulty evasive movement, Fregoso lost control. The car flipped several times across the southbound frontage road and ended up on its roof in a creek bed.

Fregoso, Trevino and the 16-year-old female were all taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Police say all three males were ejected from the car and were not wearing seat belts. The two females were trapped inside and had to be extricated.

State Highway 130 was closed for a few hours and traffic was being diverted to Highway 29 due to the crash.
