Possible bomb in car prompts I-35 shutdown in Travis Co.

The Travis County Sheriff's Office says out of an abundance of caution, it shut down a portion of I-35 briefly after an investigation into the threat of a bomb.

The TCSO Public Information Officer says the incident began at 9:44 p.m. on December 8 as an assist Round Rock Police Department call about a person who reported he believed there was a bomb in his car.

The person had pulled over in TCSO's jurisdiction.

OTHER TEXAS CRIME STORIES:

I-35 at Grand Avenue Parkway was shut down at 10:40 p.m. as the investigation was conducted and the Austin Police Department's Bomb Unit was asked to assist.

No explosive device was found in the vehicle.

I-35 was reopened a few hours later at 1 a.m., on December 9.
