Runners brave chilly temps and rain to participate in Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot
AUSTIN, Texas - Runners are participating in the 29th annual Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot and they're braving some chilly temperatures and a little bit of rain before having Thanksgiving dinner.
The event has been going on since 1991 and officials say to date it has raised close to $4 million for Caritas of Austin, a non-profit that works to prevent and end homelessness in the Austin community.
It's now the largest five mile run in Texas and has more than 700 volunteers as well as an estimated 20,000 participants.
The race begins at the Long Center and starts at 8:45 a.m. with a Kids K. That will be followed by the timed 5 mile start at 9:30 a.m., the Untimed 5 miles at 9:35 a.m. and then the 1 mile walk/run at 9:45 a.m.
Several streets in downtown will be closed for the event.
