SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio will participate in the evacuation of US citizens from oversea locations to military bases in the U.S.
In a statement from San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, the people of San Antonio were alerted that the military base would participate in the current evacuation of American citizens who are being transported away from coronavirus affected areas.
The individuals who land at the Lackland Air Force Base, Joint Base San Antonio will remain on location for the duration of their quarantine period and will "pose no risk to the community," according to the statement.
"We were notified that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Defense have decided to evacuate American citizens from China and quarantine them at U.S. military installations, including Lackland Air Force Base. We have been told that these individuals have no symptoms of the virus and pose no risk to our community," Mayor said.
